roameo gps dog tracking systemWe at The GPS Advisor have come across a very interesting short range GPS dog tracking system that is tailored to meet the needs of homeowners that want to keep tabs on their dogs in the neighborhood or ranch and want to be able to create a virtual fence perimeter that lets you know when Rex has left the property.

The RoamEO GPS Pet Tracking System is a very innovative approach to keeping track of you dog within a one mile radius. I think this is a good solution for keeping tabs on the dog in the neighborhood. Instead of having to subscribe to a service, the RoamEO uses GPS technology paired with radio tracking.

Let’s take a look at what is so great about the RoamEO and why Pet Age named it the Winner of the Most Exciting Product in 2007.

RoamEO is the Easiest GPS Dog Tracking Product To Use

The folks who designed the RoamEO GPS obviously started with the idea of “Ease of Use” in mind on the drawing board. RoamEO was designed to be as simple as…attach the radio collar to your dog and turn the system on. There is no hardware or software to install and the system fires up to full operation the moment you turn on the power.

The collar transmits GPS coordinates back to the receiver, where the information is translated and then displayed on the color LCD screen.

The impressive part of this system is the large 2.2 inch x 2.9 inch bright color LCD panel that not only shows where your dog is right now, but also shows the actual direction (with a built-in electronic compass) and speed that your dog is traveling. This could be quite useful for tracking down Fido!

Set up Your Own GPS Virtual Fence with the RoamEO GPS

Need an invisible fence, but don’t want to install one? You can actually use the RoamEO GPS system to create a virtual electronic fence based on GPS coordinates.

Here is how the RoamEO Virtual Fence works: The system uses memorized GPS coordinates that you created by walking your property with the receiver unit. The system then establishes an electronic virtual fence border to track whether your dog is in the “zone” or not. When you dog breaks the barrier you set up or wanders off the property, the receiver will send you an audible alert (an alarm).

If you want to move the boundaries with the RoamEO GPS…that is not a problem. Since the boundary is “virtual”, you can change your dog’s wandering area at any time just by walking a new perimeter. This kind of flexibility is pretty amazing.

We look forward to taking a closer look at the RoamEO GPS Pet Tracking System and it’s impressive set of features in future. Stay tuned or search on RoamEO to find more posts.
